Meet Lena, Agile+ programme coordinator
What is your connection with the Agile+ programme?
I'm the programme coordinator. My role is to ensure communication and coordination between all the healthcare professionals involved (surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, etc.) and to support the patient at every stage, from the appointment with the surgeon to the patient's return home.
What are the programme's objectives for patients?
The programme aims to :
- Offer reassuring, personalised monitoring at every stage of their journey.
- Reduce their stress by answering all their questions from the outset.
- Promote rapid rehabilitation and greater independence after the operation.
What type of patient is Agile+ intended for?
All patients requiring orthopaedic surgery, whether on the upper or lower limbs (knees, hips, shoulders, elbows), regardless of age or pathology.
What do you think makes Agile+ so special?
Customisation from A to Z and long-term follow-up. Thanks to an in-depth pre-operative assessment (a 45-minute discussion of patients' objectives and needs), we draw up a tailored programme and answer their questions to reduce their stress. They know exactly what to expect and feel supported.
Why is the Agile+ programme important to you?
It enables optimal, personalised patient follow-up, which improves the patient's experience and care. Agile+ also strengthens communication between professionals, contributing to better organisation and positive feedback.
How does your expertise, particularly as a physiotherapist, contribute to patient support?
As a physiotherapist, I work both on an outpatient basis (pre-operative and long-term rehabilitation) and in hospital (immediate post-operative rehabilitation). This dual expertise enables me to follow patients throughout their course, with a global view of their needs.
What results have you seen thanks to Agile+?
We have seen a clear reduction in the number of stays in rehabilitation centres. Whereas previously the majority of patients systematically spent one or two weeks in a rehabilitation centre before returning home, only three of the 40 patients included in the programme required such a stay. The others were able to return home directly, better prepared and more independent, leading to a better quality of life and faster recovery.
For the moment, the programme includes orthopaedic surgery only, but is there a plan to include other types of surgery as well?
Yes, by 2025 we plan to include neurosurgery, and then expand to include visceral surgery and urology.
How do you feel in this new role?
I love communicating with patients, being close to them, being able to follow them over the long term - there's a bond that develops that's very rewarding.
A final word?
Agile+ is a promising programme that aims to make patients independent and rehabilitate them quickly. Thanks to this personalised follow-up, they feel supported and in better conditions to resume their daily lives. We hope to see this model developed in other clinics within the Group.
